Riverwood Weddings is a picturesque and unique QLD wedding venue that is currently offering brides and grooms an extraordinary deal: an all-inclusive, daytime wedding with 30 of your nearest and dearest for $8,000. We repeat, all the bells and whistles you see featured in this styled shoot for under 10K. We always said the world’s gone mad, only this time it’s a good thing…

On a serious note though, that was the entire purpose behind this shoot – to illustrate what’s included in this off-season package, as well as to showcase the work of some of Queensland’s best wedding suppliers. Here we pick the brains of some of the talented humans behind this Riverwood Weddings styled shoot.

Tell us all about the event…

Carmen from Riverwood: Due to seeing a niche market opportunity that was lacking in the mobile wedding industry, Riverwood Weddings venue has tailored a daytime picnic wedding option for couples looking for a small, intimate wedding that is more than an elopement and less than a full wedding to cater up to 30 guests.

The vibe is chilled out, relaxed boho that is casual and fun with added pops of colour via the balloon installations for a bit of a festival vibe, and Insta Kombi’s brand new GIF Social Booth added in as a fun option for guests.

The models in this shoot are real-life engaged couples with their baby River as we feel this type of daytime wedding will suit couples with small children (or possibly second marriages looking for something more relaxed). Couples still get very much a wedding day, beautiful photos and ceremony and a relaxed luncheon to celebrate with their closest friends and family members present.

Talk us through the styling – what inspired the décor?

Bek from The Perfection Project: The inspiration for this shoot was, fun, casual, outdoor, relaxing vibes. We wanted to create a cozy picnic setting for friends to drink, eat and laugh.

I did a ‘X’ layout with my low timber tables so everyone was connected. The food was placed at the table (yes, even the cake) so no one had to leave the comfy space .

For our ceremony, we wanted to add a bit of fun to the space! So we created a big balloon garland on our naked tipi arbour!  Keeping with the ‘cozy together’ theme, we had our beautiful double peacock chair for our loved-up couple to sit while they signed their future together.

Tell us all about the colour palette – what were the key colours used and why were they picked?

Stylist Bek: My colour pallet was the very on-trend soft pinks with burgundy and golds. Hitting the boho vibes with cushions for seating and style elements from indie, vintage and Moroccan themes.

And what about the stationery for this shoot?

Erin from The Rustic at Heart: The stationery suite consisted of a gold finish laser engraved timber invitation featuring a signature boho design with a diamond floral motif. This motif was followed through other stationery elements such as the round gold menus and on the leather welcome signage.

The diamond element from the bohemian design was also used to create a laser cut sign for the photobooth background to again create that overall link for all areas of the ceremony and reception styling.

What was on the menu? And what inspired the menu?

Angelica at Hummingbird & Co Catering: Relaxed Picnic feasting featuring fresh autumn inspired produce

  • Moroccan meatballs served with pomegranate glaze and lemon infused kale and pomegranate salad
  • Pulled pork sliders with apple slaw and smoked garlic aioli
  • Mushroom and mozzarella arancini with lemon and rocket salad
  • Tapas plates with homemade labne and cured meats
  • Autumn salads with pomegranate, beetroot and lemon infused fetta

What blooms were used?

Kylie from The Posy Collective: Classic wild botanical bouquets featuring a unique combination of dried native and delicate petal flowers; the fresh scent of eucalyptus combined with the perfume from the deep red Columbian roses were an absolute delight.
