There’s a number of reasons so many Australians flock to Europe each year. As well as being synonymous with “the good life” (think drinking wine, eating cheese, romantic walks through ancient ruins, midday naps, crystal clear water and heaps of carbs) Europe is also an excellent wedding destination. The only catch for Aussie couples is that it’s a fair distance from our not-so-little island (about a four month journey if you refuse to fly). Not to mention the costs, language barriers and logistics involved... it’s enough to turn some people off the idea of a destination wedding altogether.
But we’re pleased to say there is a way to have a European-style wedding without leaving dry land. If you look beyond the well known waterfront or winery wedding venues, you’ll find NSW is also home to a number of popular European-style wedding venues. Some which are indistinguishable from the wedding venues you would expect to find in popular European countries like Italy, Greece and France. This is globalisation at its best, and if you continue reading, you’ll find 12 European style wedding venues in NSW that are sure to delight.
So grab a glass of wine, some kind of carb and any type of cheese (or if it was us, all three) and enjoy perusing these quality event spaces where the Euro vibes run high.
European-style venues offer romance, rustic charm and timeless elegance – all without the long-haul flight. For couples seeking an alfresco, Tuscan-style celebration, an old-world garden ceremony or a Euro-inspired micro wedding, there are plenty of wedding venues in NSW that deliver the same aesthetic and atmosphere. You can say your vows among vineyards, beneath olive trees or beside a grand country manor, all while being close to home.
Among other things, European-style wedding venues in NSW often feature:
They offer a picturesque backdrop for both ceremonies and receptions, and often include BYO or flexible vendor options, making them ideal for personalising your wedding. And while most of them are well-suited for outdoor, alfresco-style celebrations there's always an attractive wet-weather alternative available. If you're wondering what the best season is to host a European-inspired wedding, read this.

It’s easy to be fooled into thinking Rowlee Wines is located somewhere in the European countryside. The sprawling vineyards, heavenly-scented fruit trees, manicured gardens and olive grove all pay homage to the owners of Rowlee Wine’s Croatian roots, where their family tradition of grape growing and winemaking began.
In addition to producing award-winning wines, this venue also succeeds in creating memorable celebrations (some of which you can see here and here). This wedding venue in NSW offers couples three unique reception spaces including their newly opened restaurant and bar as well as exclusive use of the entire property.

The expansive grounds also speak to this venue’s ties to Europe with an arboretum (a botanical garden devoted to growing trees) featuring 50 different species, many over 100 years old. Also, the lake and seasonal menus are nice.
This 124-acre property is positively mental. A masterpiece in every way, Mona Farm will resonate with anyone looking for a European-style wedding venue with its award-winning gardens, purpose-built reception space, and historic guest houses which date back to 1853.
It’s located in the heritage listed town of Braidwood in rural NSW but like Disneyland, Neverland and Graceland (or any of those other lands), Mona Farm is a destination in itself with up to 95 employees playing part in its success as a premium wedding venue in NSW.
Everything about it is luxurious, but in a quiet way that comes from their ability to do everything exceptionally well. Built in the 1800s this Tuscan-inspired villa is the easiest way to have a European-style wedding in Australia. Not only because it doesn’t need any dressing up to fit the theme, but because being close to the Hunter Valley means there’s plenty of accommodation and things to do nearby (read: wine tasting). It’s a perfect scenario for couples who want a destination wedding without the logistical headache.
On-site, the villa itself accommodates 12 guests across six king-sized bedrooms, while the rest of the 10-acre property features stunning gardens, a pool, and “The Garden Room” - a lovely building that was once a restaurant and can comfortably hold 50 guests.
For larger weddings (max. 200), there are multiple sites suitable for a marquee, or tables can be set-up directly in front of the villa. Because Redleaf is a DIY and BYO wedding venue, it means couples are able to take the lead when it comes to designing the look and feel of their wedding.
Location: Byron Bay Hinterland, NSW // Capacity: 100 // BYO: Yes // Accommodation: Yes - 4 guests // Wedshed loves: The authentic French vibes and environmental focus (they plant 12 rainforest trees each year, named and dated to represent the contribution made to the environment by wedding couples.)
Stuff going to France when this European-style wedding venue exists just outside of Byron Bay. Inspired by quintessential French farmhouses, Deux Bellettes is the result of a young family’s dream to live a sustainable, off-grid lifestyle well before it was considered mainstream.
They planted more than 1,000 fruit trees, rare rainforest trees and thousands of eucalypts and pines for building and heating. They also planted 150 plane trees along their long driveway, which, forty years on, have grown to give the property a distinctly European feel.
The farmhouse (best described as a “chateau”) was also built slowly over time using traditional building methods found in rural France, and now serves as a beautiful and romantic backdrop for weddings. The interiors of Deux Bellettes are adorned with classic and antique furnishings, while outside is decorated with wild lavender, rambling roses, a rosemary scented courtyard and small plunge pool. And with luxurious accommodation options on-site plus its own helipad, this really is one of the best Byron Bay Hinterland wedding venues.

“Spectacular views”, “castle villa”, “Tuscan style venue”, “majestic macadamia orchard”, “tropical gardens”, “romantic setting”... the first paragraph on Nutting Hill’s website describes a place that sounds a little far-fetched. Only, it’s legit - and it exists on 100 acres just outside of Byron Bay.
As well as its undeniable European charm and natural serenity, Nutting Hill provides creative couples with the opportunity to design their own day. Whether it’s an intimate poolside soiree, a cocktail-style marquee wedding or a formal affair in the Plantation Room reception space that spills out onto the orchard, the options here are all equally eye-pleasing.
Getting here doesn’t require getting on a plane, and yet it feels oceans away with distinct, European-style additions everywhere including stunning gardens, architecturally designed indoor and outdoor spaces, terracotta roofs and sandstone. Plus, everything is available on-site including accommodation across five spacious bedrooms inside the luxurious villa, a pool, fire pit, and even a private lake for boating and fishing.
Location: Kiama, NSW // Capacity: 150 (seated) 250 (standing) // Accommodation: Yes - 18 guests // Wedshed loves: The interiors and attention to detail - this place is a design lovers dream.
If the idea of a European-style wedding surrounded by rolling hills, heritage charm and understated luxury appeals to you, Greyleigh is your perfect match. Set on 200 acres in Kiama on the picturesque NSW south coast, this breathtaking estate combines old-world elegance with natural beauty. Originally a dairy farm from the 1800s, Greyleigh has been thoughtfully restored into a refined events venue and luxury accommodation, just two hours south of Sydney.
Wander through citrus groves, herb gardens, stone walls and century-old silos - all reminiscent of a rustic European countryside retreat. From expansive views of green hills to glimpses of the sea beyond, the setting feels like something out of Tuscany or Provence. Sounds dreamy, and it is.
Greyleigh hosts up to 250 guests and offers a collection of both indoor and outdoor spaces to host your celebration your way - be it a long-table feast under the stars or a chic cocktail-style soirée. With exclusive use of the estate, you’ll enjoy complete privacy and the freedom to create a wedding that reflects meaningful and unique.
The beautifully eclectic farmhouse (an interior lovers happy place) accommodation sleeps up to 18 guests and is ideal for your bridal party or close family. Spend your pre and post-wedding moments relaxing by the pool cabana, indulging in the spa, or making woodfired pizzas with loved ones.
Location: Southern Highlands, NSW // Capacity: 130 // BYO: Alcohol only // Accommodation: Yes - 4 guests // Wedshed loves: It would be a sin not to say the gardens, but the ivy-covered reception hall is also incredible (especially in Autumn).
Spanning 33 acres and featuring an original 1861 homestead, this historic Southern Highlands wedding venue is a rare find. Its English-inspired gardens and natural surrounds are one of its most alluring features, and couples can expect to find goats, ponies, cherry and apple blossoms, ancient oaks and elms, a pine forest and an established orchard and hazelnut grove.
Being BYO and pet-friendly is another big drawcard, and there’s accommodation on-site for four guests. There are multiple (and equally stunning) ceremony locations too, and the Greenhouse Bar is the perfect setting for cocktails on the lawn. Receptions typically take place inside Badgery Hall - an impressive, blank canvas space with brick walls, warm timber floors, vintage lighting and ornate bar - and later, couples and their guests can enjoy a drink around the fire outside the unique Carriage Barn.
For a European fix, the main residence should do the trick. Surrounded by the above-mentioned gardens, its heritage architecture favoured by settlers of the 19th Century and its French doors, sash windows and impressive verandah create the sense that you’re somewhere in Europe rather than a few hours south of Sydney.
