There’s something special about an alfresco style wedding - the kind of setting where time slows down and conversation flows as easily as the wine - and that’s exactly what unfolded at Blue Wren Farm in Mudgee, where a dream team of creatives came together to create a styled shoot that celebrated good food, nature-led styling and a genuine sense of connection.

Set outdoors beneath a canopy of greenery, the shoot featured one thing we’ll never tire of: a well-dressed table. Covered in crisp white linen and surrounded by bentwood chairs, it featured florals by Abby from Once & Flor’al who incorporated a vibrant mix of mauve chrysanthemums, dahlias, tropical leaves and native grasses to create a stunning, natural focal point.

Photographer Elise Hassey captured the day in her signature documentary-meets-editorial style with candid, thoughtful imagery that gave a clear sense of what an alfresco style wedding at Blue Wren Farm could look and feel like (read: relaxed, intentional, exclusive, stunning, intimate etc. etc.). On film, Jo Emond from Hey Jo brought the day to life with warmth and authenticity, capturing movement, sound and the laid-back joy of the occasion.

The team at Blue Wren Farm not only hosted the lunchtime wedding shoot amongst their European-inspired gardens (which is just one of many stunning locations on the 50-acre estate) but the in-house catering team also served up a delicious feast that reflected the best of what the region has to offer. From start to finish, the focus was on quality food, seasonal produce and relaxed hospitality - three things Mudgee weddings are known and loved for. To finish, guests were treated to a nostalgic scoop (or three) of Dippin’ Dots Dubbo ice cream, which brought a fun, unexpected twist to the experience.

This shoot is a love letter to slow moments, shared meals and celebrating in nature. It’s a blueprint for couples dreaming of an outdoor Mudgee wedding that feels intimate, grounded and joy-filled - minus the fuss.
