A long engagement meant Tanya and Jeremy could take their time planning and fine-tuning their dream, weekend-long wedding in country NSW. Keen to celebrate somewhere outside of Sydney, they chose Blue Wren Farm in Mudgee because "it truly ticked all the boxes".
The stunning scenery, blank canvas reception space, on-site accommodation and incredible staff made their all-inclusive wedding "so much easier" to organise.
With live music, cocktails, two cakes and a wonderful team of vendors (including their photographer Sophie Brennan) their day was a beautifully curated mix of all the things Tanya and Jeremy love and value. Check it out below.
How did you and Jeremy meet? We worked in retail together at Universal store. We became friends before we started dating.
The venue: Blue Wren Farm. We looked up and down the east coast knowing we wanted a wedding outside of Sydney and we wanted to make a weekend out of it. We chose Blue Wren Farm as our wedding venue because it truly ticked all the boxes. From the stunning scenery to the convenience of having everything in one location, it made planning so much easier.
The reception space was a blank canvas, which allowed us to bring our own vision to life, and the flow of the venue was perfect for the day we imagined. Most importantly, Sophie and the team were incredible to deal with - supportive, flexible, and genuinely passionate about making our day special.
The vibe: Three words I would use to describe our wedding theme: modern, classic with a nod to romantic vintage. Colour scheme was white black and greenery. Blue Wren in summer is just beautifully green and vibrant so we really didn’t need to add much.
Knowing Jeremy and I, our guest list was always going to be a party, so food and drinks and the band played a big part in our day.
Expectations vs. reality: We had a long engagement, so I took a slow and steady approach making a to-do list and ticking things off over time. But even with all the planning, the final 30 days threw a few unexpected challenges our way with vendors. My advice? Expect that not everything will go to plan, and always have a backup plan (and a safety fund) to take the pressure off when surprises pop up.
Best wedding planning resources? Wedshed of course, Facebook groups, Bridal Journey, Anti Bride Instagram and Pinterest.
Best thing you did? The cake was our biggest disagreement. Jeremy loves cake and my biggest fear the cake never gets eaten. We cut the cake right after dinner before cocktail hour and served it before our speeches and the dancing began. Two cakes both eaten.
The band playing a dinner set I would highly recommend. Imagine your whole group of friends singing "If I Ain’t Got You" by Alicia Keys. That is forever a core memory.
Hit (or near) miss: Always make sure the father of the bride and brother of the bride try on their suits prior to the day. There was mad rush to purchase a new suit on the day and sewing of split pants.
We also forgot to thank our MC who is one of our friends whoops. And lastly we lost our wedding certificate for the day. Make sure you assign someone to hold onto it.
If we had our time again... (anything you'd change in retrospect?)I wouldn’t change anything but I would recommend getting raw footage from the day.
