Have we told you how much we love blank canvas wedding venues? And massive, corrugated iron country sheds? Yes? Good. Because you’ll understand why we’re so into this wedding.

High school sweethearts Ella and Lucas wanted to transform the rustic barn at Sandridge Estate, one of our fave Tasmanian venues, into a vibrant and magical space. With a little imagination and a handful of awesome vendors, they did exactly that. Here, Ella tells us how it all transpired.

Tell us about how you met and the proposal?

We actually went to primary school together. I had the biggest crush on Lucas and he finally got the picture and asked me to the movies in Grade 7. We saw classic chick flick Maid in Manhattan and sat backwardly up the back row. Twelve years, two homes and two puppies later and Lucas dropped to one knee and popped the question Valentines Day 2015.

What was your theme/inspiration/vibe for your wedding?

Our vision was to create a fun, vibrant vibe! We wanted to give the rustic barn at Sandridge a classic twist. We used beautiful timbers, fresh white linen and a mass of greenery to achieve this.

What advice would you give to other couples leading up to their big day?

The day truly flies by so take in every moment together. Also, don’t sweat the small stuff! It doesn’t matter in the end.

What does marriage mean to you?

Committing ourselves as best friends forever in front of the ones we love.

What was your favourite moment on your wedding day?

We took a moment in the night to sit back at the bridal table to take in the faces of the people that were there to celebrate our special day. The room was full to the brim with love.
