Nestled in the outskirts of Gundaroo, Canberra, you’ll find Bushfield Farm, a long-established working sheep farm that lives on 187 acres of beautiful land. Featuring a very large dam, a creek, park-like lawns, and 150-year-old elm trees, it’s no surprise that Rob and Alex chose it for their big day.

See more below, captured by Leah Cruikshank.

In a nutshell, how would you describe your wedding day?

A dream. It was a fantastically fun day, we loved every minute of it! Getting married was never something either of us put a lot of thought into before meeting each other so for it to come together as it did I think surprised us both.

What did you expect was going to be your favourite part in the lead-up? What did it end up being?

The speeches and I think they came a close second to the vows.

Did you write your own vows? If so, what made you decide to do that?

Not entirely, we tweaked some provided by the celebrant.

What was it about Bushfield Farm that made you choose it?

It was a setting that suited both of our personalities and interests. Being in a rural location we felt very comfortable. We also felt that they weren’t pumping wedding parties in and out and they really allowed us flexibility and the creatives around us to do their thing.

Now that you’re married, what’s your best piece of wedding planning advice you can share?

Elope. Just kidding. Don’t skimp on the photographer. The photos from the day I believe are truly once in a lifetime photos of family and friends. Now we consider them irreplaceable.

If you had your time again, is there anything you’d do differently?

Plan for a bigger budget.

Finish these sentences: My partner is…

Amazing.

The best thing we did at our wedding was…

Relax.

We splurged on…

Catering.

We saved on…

Unintentionally the venue.
