Our Top 10 Real Weddings Of 2020

It turns out you’re all big sticky beaks. According to Google stats, real weddings ranked as our most popular category across Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest by a long way.

Secretly, we’re over the moon – its testament to the incredible work of so many of our wonderful venues and vendors who work so tirelessly to bring each of these weddings to life. It’s no easy feat, particularly during a global pandemic, and we’re glad you’ve enjoyed scoping them out as much as we have. Hopefully, you’ve found plenty of inspo for your own day of good times, too.

So without further ado and in no particular order, we’ve rounded up our 10 most loved real weddings of 2020.

Georgie + Jack – Camp Sunnystones, VIC

Georgie and Jack’s multi-day Wedstival confirmed what we’d always suspected – that most people have a soft spot for teepees and pets at weddings (us included). Captured by the very talented Ashleigh Haase, (who also shot this styled shoot) it was exactly as bride Georgie described – “a big festival of love”.

Sarah + Erich – Forget Me Not Weddings, NSW

With an A-list of wedding vendors including photographer Bianca Virtue, florist Bower Botanicals and planner/stylist Forethought by Samantha (to name only a few) this wedding was always going to knock the socks off a few folks. In the throes of planning your own wedding? Start taking notes.

Kirsty + Jackson – The Mill Brewery, VIC

Being co-owners of a brewery meant Kirsty and Jackson’s wedding venue was already decided and that champagne during the ceremony was always on the cards. Captured by Dave Le Page, we can’t say we were too surprised by your response to this industrial wedding, given the beautiful styling and epic neon signs.

Bri + Dave – Byron View Farm, NSW

This year, we’ve seen a rise in intimate weddings and Bri and Dave’s was certainly one of the best (we’re still swooning over Bri’s flowers by Wilderness Flowers and her Pronovias gown). Captured by Figtree Wedding Photography they created a “summer garden party” with fabulous food, wine and espresso martini cocktails.

Hannah + Silva – Glasshaus Inside, VIC

Hannah and Silva tied the knot at a unique, 1920s warehouse-turned-nursery in Melbourne with only 11 guests thanks to our old friend, COVID. But it was perfect and intimate and their guests even got to walk away with a gifted bottle of hand sanitiser. Captured by Jackson Grant, it’s worth checking out (and reading their story if you need a good giggle).

Christine + Xav – Barunah Plains, VIC

If you’re considering tossing out a few traditions, take note of this rustic VIC wedding. Captured by Justine Missen, it was a beautiful day celebrating two humans who were comfortable to do things their way (like ditching their first dance and doing a first look). We adore this venue too, and it turns out you guys feel the same way.

Melissa + Charles – Private Property, VIC

A bride who wore sneakers (along with her maids), a 97-year-old Nanna who refused to leave the DF and a ceremony that began with a snake slithering down the aisle (it was a country wedding) – there were so many reasons as to why we wanted to share this real wedding captured by Bianca Virtue and styled by Forethought by Samantha.

Sandra + Tim – The Foundry, NYC

Not only was this one of our 10 most loved real weddings of 2020, it was also our most liked wedding dress on Instagram – ever. Sandra and Tim’s New York wedding was shot by WS faves Lucie Weddings and Ripple Weddings and was nothing short of perfect. Their venue, their bridal party and their outdoor reception – you guys gave this one a big thumbs up.

Rosie + Matt – Mona Farm, NSW

This wedding captured by Photos By Jessie Ann at one of the most exclusive rural NSW wedding venues (see this real wedding too) was not only a beautifully styled celebration but a refreshing insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes. It also touches on why you should hire a videographer for your day of good times.

Jaimi-Lee + Daniel – Summergrove Estate, NSW

After a lengthy engagement and a few Covid-related setbacks, this pair finally tied the knot at Summergrove Estate – an exclusive 73-acre property on the NSW North Coast. It was an intimate wedding, with just 34 guests and a team of amazing wedding vendors, including photographer Jason Corroto and the styling was the stuff of fairytales.
