These 10 south coast wedding venues deserve a standing ovation. Time and again, unique properties like Greyleigh Kiama and Worrowing exceed the expectations of engaged couples and their guests by providing not only a spectacular location (the NSW south coast is undeniably beautiful) but an experience that only the most passionate and seasoned professionals can deliver. In other words, they give a damn.

If you want your wedding day to be one that will be talked about for years to come (and for all the right reasons), consider tying the knot at any one of these unforgettable south coast wedding venues.

Why get married on the NSW south coast?

A much shorter answer to this question would be to list all the reasons you shouldn’t get married on the NSW south coast - of which there are zero. This stretch of paradise is hard to fault and it makes sense that couples everywhere (even outside of NSW and overseas) look to tie the knot here. Some of the main things that attract engaged couples here are:

Location

The NSW south coast spans a stretch of coastline over 400km in length. The Princes Highway traverses the entire length, with most of the region's attractions accessible either directly from the highway or just a short detour off this main road. The more populated parts (Illawara and Shoalhaven Coast) are approximately a two hour drive from Sydney and three from Canberra.

Scenery

As we touched on above, the south coast is without question, remarkably beautiful. From white sand beaches and rocky coastlines to rolling farmlands and rainforests, this part of Australia showcases some of Mother Nature’s best work.

Things to do

The NSW south coast is home to lovely walking trails, wineries, surf beaches and lagoons. There are boutique shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes and museums. Literally everything is at your fingertips. A weekend here won’t feel long enough.

Accommodation

Being a popular holiday and wedding destination, there’s no shortage of NSW south coast accommodation to suit every budget. Think caravan parks, campsites, luxury homes, hotels, farm stays and everything in between.

Local vendors

Couples that wed here save a fortune on travel fees, given that many of the people who call this place home happen to be incredibly talented wedding vendors. Incredible florists, hair and makeup artists, celebrants, photographers, furniture and tipi hire companies and catering all within cooee of these popular south coast wedding venues.

Wedding venues

Whatever wedding venue checklist you’re working from, we can almost guarantee you’ll find a venue here that ticks every box. From converted dairy farms to luxurious, purpose built venues the options are plenty (good luck choosing!).

Tips on choosing a wedding venue

We don’t envy anyone who is in the position of choosing a wedding venue. In Australia - and the south coast in particular - there are so many fantastic options (narrowing down only 10 for this post was not an easy gig). If this is you, we’ve written an entire post on how to find and choose a wedding venue. But some key things to consider include:

  • Priorities: Does the venue accommodate your wedding priorities (ie. the thing you've identified that matter to both of you).
  • Budget: What is your tentative budget?
  • Guest numbers: What is the venue’s capacity?
  • Accommodation: Is there accommodation on-site or alternative options nearby?
  • BYO: Do you want to be able to BYO alcohol and/or catering?
  • Pet-friendly: Is bringing your fur-baby a non-negotiable?
  • Blank-canvas vs. fully dressed: If you find a blank canvas property you love, how much is included and how much are you required to do yourself?
  • Accessibility: Do you require a venue that’s accessible for all your guests?
  • DIY vs. done for you: How much are you required to DIY and how much is already done for you?
  • Location: Do you want to be near the ocean or a rainforest or in town and close to a pub and shops?
