About This Venue
Stunning Tanilba House (c1831), is a beautiful, state heritage listed homestead prominently positioned overlooking Port Stephens in Tanilba Bay.

The property offers various options including fully enclosed wet weather spaces and encompasses a large conservatory, extensive arbour, glorious gardens plus sweeping water views of the bay.
The home is located in Tanilba Bay on a peninsula surrounded by water and several quiet waterfront parks. It is a paradise known for its magnificent water views, teeming birdlife and local koalas. With grand stone entrance gates welcoming visitors to the suburb it is located halfway between Newcastle and Nelson Bay.
The house is convict built of locally quarried stone and is the oldest home in Port Stephens. The imposing house and 3 acres of grounds combine to provide a truly magical wedding venue which offers an unmatched combination of features.
The home includes expansive reception rooms with 50 cm thick walls and 3 metre ceilings and has been fully restored. The ambience is of rustic charm and elegance, with a fully enclosed conservatory, surround verandahs and a magnificent 1920’s circular stone driveway.
The property boasts an array of stonework completed in the 1920’s which includes an adjacent stone temple, a romantic 30 metre wisteria covered arbour and imposing entrance columns. There is plenty of space with sweeping lawns perfect for games overlooked by the conservatory. The many facets and features of the property provide multiple spaces for you to host your ceremony and reception.
Photo opportunities abound on the property and its scale and many features need to be seen to be appreciated. Props include the original convict gaol, a wishing chair, a selection of heritage gates, stone chairs, gorgeous flowering trees, various gardens and other elements. Quiet waterfront parks are a short walk from the house – with Sunset Park renown for dramatic evening sunset shots over the water only 300 meters away.
