About This Venue

Historic Tanilba House (c1831), is a beautiful, heritage listed colonial homestead, prominently positioned overlooking stunning Port Stephens in Tanilba Bay. Tanilba Bay is a quiet, little known paradise known for its magnificent water views, teeming birdlife and local koalas. With grand stone entrance gates welcoming visitors to the suburb, it is surrounded by recreational and national parks and is located halfway between Newcastle and Nelson Bay on the Tilligerry Peninsula.

The convict built house has expansive reception rooms with 50 cm thick walls and 3.3 metre ceilings and has now been fully restored. It sits proudly on an estate of 3 acres of established gardens on a peninsula surrounded by water and several beautiful waterfront parks . The ambience is of rustic charm and elegance, with a fully enclosed conservatory, surround verandahs and a grand 1930’s circular stone driveway. The property boasts an adjacent stone temple, a romantic 30 metre wisteria covered arbour, sweeping lawns perfect for games as well as stunning views of the Bay. The many facets and features of the property provide multiple spaces for you to host your ceremony and reception.

Photo opportunities abound on the property and its scale and many features need to be seen to be appreciated. Props include the original convict gaol, a selection of heritage gates, stone chairs, gorgeous flowering trees, various gardens and other elements. Quiet waterfront parks are a short walk from the house – with Sunset Park renown for dramatic evening sunset shots over the water only 300 meters away.

The venue caters for a variety of wedding formats and price ranges. So whether your vision is:
. A complete wedding package of ceremony, photos, reception plus accommodation all at the one venue,
