Today we meet the creative master behind Boho Hair + Makeup, Chantelle: a lady who believes the key to nailing a bridal look is to enhance the bride’s natural beauty – nothing more, nothing less.

How did you get into your line of work?
I was working in a hair salon and realised I needed a more creative outlet. I’m a big lover of love so I branched out and created Boho Hair + Makeup, a mobile service for brides.
Once I got engaged and married myself, I felt it allowed me to have a stronger connection with all of my brides because I truly understood the whole wedding planning process.
What sets your business apart?
We pride ourselves on making sure the bride feels naturally beautiful on her wedding day. We want to know everything from how he proposed to what your favourite thing is about each other and where you see yourselves when you’re old and grey. So I guess you could say communication is one of our strong points.
We like to take any added stress out of the day. We see the process of the wedding day every weekend so we like to help our brides and plan out the days’ timeline to ensure she is happy and the day runs as smooth as possible.
What do love most about your job?
Spending the day with the bride on one of the best days of her life.
How would others describe you?
Passionate, creative and a hopeless romantic.
What services do you offer and how much flexibility do couples have to create their own unique day?
We have a range of bridal packages starting from bride only to large bridal parties, including spray tans. We have also branched off and started creating unique bohemian hair accessories that complement our modern brides.
We make it all about the bride at Boho Hair + Makeup. Our trial is probably the most important part of the hair and makeup planning stage. It’s great to sit down and get to know the bride and what she feels comfortable with on her wedding day.
What are two questions couples generally want to ask you?
Q: What time do I need to wake up on my wedding day?
A: It depends on what time your ceremony starts and also how many people you have in your bridal party. The earlier your ceremony and the more people you have, the more likely you are to see the sunrise on your wedding day 😉
Q: I don’t want to have cake face, can you make sure this doesn’t happen?
A: Nobody wants cake face on their wedding day. There are so many techniques and products available today to give brides long lasting coverage without cakeface.
Advice to newly engaged couples?
Take your time, Don’t sweat the small stuff (I know everyone says this but really, you forget about it once the day is over) Most importantly, the day is about the two of you, so make it about the two of you and what you want for your big day.
What’s your favourite thing you’ve seen a couple do at a wedding?
Love letters are probably my favourite. They are the type of thing you can put in a box and pass down through the generations.
Describe the kind of couples you attract.
We are getting a lot of couples lately who are very creative and unique with their weddings. They also have a very relaxed approach to their weddings and, most of all, want everyone to have a blast on the wedding day.
What’s your favourite wedding trend?
I cannot go past blush, navy and rose gold, it gets me every single time! Long outdoor styled tables are also a favourite.
