It’s not hard to see why Claire and Jake chose this beautiful venue as the backdrop for their big day. Mewburn Park Homestead is located 2.5 hours east of Melbourne and sits on 400-acres of private property, with a stunning colonial Homestead dating back to the 1850s.

See more moments from their day below, captured by Light and Type.

In a nutshell, how would you describe your wedding day?

Perfect weather, amazing food, spectacular venue, just an all-round amazing day! We loved every minute.

What did you expect was going to be your favourite part in the lead-up? What did it end up being?

I underestimated the pure happiness I would feel seeing my future husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle! I also didn’t expect to have such a good time while Nicole was taking our photos. Those quiet moments spent together are some of my favourite memories of the day, and to have them beautifully captured on film is so special.

Did you write your own vows? If so, what made you decide to do that?

Yes, we did, we wanted a more personal touch to our ceremony.

What was it about Mewburn Park that made you book?

We loved everything about Mewburn Park! Its history, relaxed vibe, and picture-perfect setting. Adam and Julia are both so fun and easy to deal with too!

What’s your best piece of wedding-related advice?

Keep a notebook of all your vendors, quotes, deposits, and due dates. It really helps keep everything stress free!

If you had your time again, is there anything you’d do differently?

I honestly don’t think I would change a thing!

Finish these sentences. My partner is…

My best friend.

The best thing we did at our wedding was…

Invest in a quality photographer! I look at our wedding album all the time, it was well worth every cent to be able to look back on the best day of our lives.

We splurged on…

Our 7-week European honeymoon.

We saved on…

Making our own table centerpieces, vases filled with greenery from friends and families gardens.
