Stoney Creek Estate is a 28 acre late 1800s family owned and operated property in Strathalbyn, only 50minutes from the Adelaide CBD. Featuring an eight acre Tuscan inspired Frantoio, Pendolino and Leccino olive grove, a beautifully historic event ready stone barn, renovated stone cottage accommodation and horse paddocks. Be inspired by the pristine surrounding countryside to personalise our stunning location for your wedding, function or event. As a council approved dry hire venue, you can count on us to be here whenever you need us. No matter the date you're considering, rest assured we're fully compliant and won't be at risk of closure. We offer the flexibility and space for you to turn your ideas into the event of your dreams. Think ample space for food trucks, drink vans, a band and dancing the night away!

Arrive in style by helicopter or hire our vintage white Volkswagen convertible. From there you are just a few steps up the stone driveway to the barn and lawns. Our idyllic gum tree lined estate has ample picturesque locations for ceremonies and photoshoots, and you can even hire one of our horses for a few special photos or bring your own pets!

Wander the fresh country air and stay the night or three at our romantic Stoney Creek Cottage. Enjoy the ensuite with a view and outdoor bath under the stars. Jump on the estate’s tandem bicycle and enjoy the short cycle into historic Strathalbyn. Stoney Creek Estate has it all for a charming rustic event or rural weekend away - our family look forward to welcoming you either way.

Congratulations, your wedding day is one of the most memorable days of your lives and we cannot wait to host it! We provide full exclusive use of the entire estate for your special day, the day before for set up and day after for pack down, with the exclusion of our private homestead, sheds and horse paddocks. Stoney Creek Cottage will also be available during your wedding for accommodation and photo opportunities and we have a camping license for a maximum of 20 guests. We will ensure the cottage is not booked by external guests during your event. As a dry-hire venue, our charming and rustic estate is a blank canvas for you to plan, style and cater your wedding as you please. There are several accessible locations with power and water for food trucks, drink vans, caterers and musicians.

We provide a free planning meeting with our event manager and comprehensive checklist, and our various packages that can save you a significant amount. Our options include all-inclusive packages, furniture, event coordination, RSA bar staff, car hire, accommodation, and more.

More about the venue team

We are the Stone family, and yes that is partly the reason for the name of the estate. The other reason - there is a beautiful old stone creek running through the estate, which is where a lot of the stone for the estate's cottage and barn originally came from.

Living in the homestead, owners Wayne and Sheryl live with one of their four children and are joined by their beloved Golden Retriever and the many Stoney Creek Equestrian horses in the estate's paddocks. Sheryl has spent her career in healthcare, both nursing and medical sales. As well as having a passion of caring for people, Sheryl has also been involved in organising many corporate events for the organisations she has worked for. Her newest passion is caring for the land and the gardens surrounding the estate and Stoney Creek Cottage. Wayne is the estate's resident builder and has lovingly renovated the cottage and cannot wait to share his iconic creations with you when you stay - like the double shower with gum tree views and the romantic outdoor bath!

Moving to Strathalbyn in 2021, the estate's historic barn and cottage presented the perfect opportunity to share their love for the land. Very quickly the next year ideas grew and, joined by eldest son Adam and his wife Lara, the journey began for Stoney Creek Estate. The other half of Stoney Creek Estate, Adam, Lara, their tractor obsessed son, Groodle and Labradoodle, are on the estate most weekends also enjoying the 28 acres.

Lara has extensive experience and knowledge within the wedding and events industries, having organised and delivered personalised weddings for couples in the Adelaide Hills and also internationally in Switzerland whilst working with family at their beautiful venue Garden Villa. Currently working in international recruitment and marketing, Lara has executed her fair share of corporate events and cannot wait to discuss her ideas with you for functions at the estate.

Adam is the estate's resident cabinet maker and has been balancing his time between his own business Stone Built Cabinet Makers and working on the estate. Adam has helped to create a spectacular venue, bringing his passion for design and master craftsmanship to life. We cannot wait to share Stoney Creek Estate with you, whether you are celebrating your wedding in our historic barn or staying the night in our cottage - we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
