What some of our couples said...
"Bec was truly amazing to work with from start to finish. She understood what we were going for early on and helped refine it in a way we hadn’t quite been able to ourselves. When we saw the designs coming together the day before, we were genuinely blown away. It was beyond what we had even expected, and even more perfect on the day of our wedding. The detail and care Bec put into each bunch, as well as fruits and other accessories we requested, brought our vision to life, and at the end of the day, she wrapped all our flowers up so we could continue enjoying them for the following week.
Bec poured attention into the details we wanted, from sourcing specific flowers ahead of time to being consistently responsive and available whenever we needed. Overall, our experience in the lead up was seamless and very comforting, and the result on the day was incredible" - Daniel & Bianca
"Bec, how can I ever thank you enough for your incredible amazing work!! You truly made the day so magical and your creations were so breathtaking. From the bouquets and buttonholes to the ceremony arrangements and the table centre pieces. I cannot describe how beautiful they were and how perfectly they matched the vision. You are so talented and your joy and love for what you do shines through each piece you create. We had the most amazing day and we are so happy you were a part of it!" - Lizzie & Steven
"I had the utter joy of working with Bec from Not Just a Pretty Flower in my capacity as Maid of Honour for my sister's wedding. All I can say is—WOW. From the outset, Bec was a delight to communicate with. She presented a thorough and beautifully designed florals brief, asked my sister and her partner all about the atmosphere they hoped the florals at the wedding would convey, and really got to know their vibe as a couple. She literally communicated their personalities in flower form! She was gracious and flexible in adapting floral arrangements to suit the wedding's needs, created both the most show-stopping large-scale flower installations and the most stunningly detailed individual button holes, and even wrapped up individual bouquets for wedding guests to take home at the end of the night.
The quality and sustainable sourcing of the flowers gave the wedding a warm, authentic and eco-friendly atmosphere, but besides all that, the bottom line is: work with Bec. She is the best florist I've had the pleasure of working with, her arrangements are artful and gorgeous, and her professionalism and creative generosity makes her an absolute star." - Angela

Hello, I'm Bec, Founder of Not Just a Pretty Flower!
I grew up in Lake Macquarie on Awabakal land and live and create in Maroubra on beautiful Gadigal & Bidjigal land. My curiosity in gardens, flowers, vegetables and animals was seeded at a young age spending time adventuring around the lake and at my grandparent's property in Mount Vincent picking Double Delight roses and lavender and making potpurri.
I came to floristry through a career change, moving from financial crime and forensic services consulting into social enterprise. After training as a florist, I founded my online floristry business, Not Just a Pretty Flower, to inspire and nurture reconnection with nature.
Floristry was the catalyst to reigniting a sense of wonder, calm, inspiration and deep gratitude for nature, akin to what I experienced growing up. Connecting with, and expressing myself, through nature has been deeply transformative and healing.
I’m committed to sustainable floristry and completed the Sustainable Floristry Network (SFN) Foundation in Sustainable Floristry Course in December 2023, becoming an SFN Florist.
My approach to floristry applies Sustainable Floristry Principles which includes:
I LOVE sourcing and designing with unique pieces local and Australian businesses, artisans and social enterprises, second-hand stores, vintage and antique dealers. I also have a penchant for drawing inspiration and creating using 'dumped' items from the roadside.
As for weddings?!
Weddings to me represent so much more than a 'day'. It's the ultimate celebration of your unique love with your closest ones. It's a rare moment to really bring your community together and do it all in the way that feels entirely you.
My philosophy is 'let the flowers do the talking'. I focus on feeling and intention and translating this through nature. I believe it's paramount to design not only to your vision but in context - to be in harmony with your surrounds. I will never tire of the story's clients, friends and strangers impart about the meaning a flower has to them, especially their wedding flowers.
When I’m not creating, you'll find me out in nature walking, running, cycling or swimming on the lookout for nudibranchs and sitting at my local café, reading practicing French and sketching new ideas.
I'm very grateful to be on this journey and optimistic knowing that I share a common Purpose with many others.
Are you ready to reconnect with nature? I'd love to hear from you!
