About This Venue

Nestled in the heart of Tasmania’s Tamar Valley, you’ll find Wines for Joanie. Hidden amidst farmland, rolling hills and vineyards, this place is truly breathtaking. The Tasting Room, Orchard Shed and Pickers Hut are enclosed in historic timber buildings and surrounded by green pastures, neat rows of vineyard and wild untouched patches of native bush. The property had fallen into disrepair, however the pastures, buildings and gardens are being lovingly restored in the hands of their new owners.

There are endless stunning locations for your ceremony on the 140 acre property. Choose a vineyard, farmland or lakeside setting, the property is yours and you’re welcome to utilise any picturesque location you choose. In case of inclement weather, the Orchard Shed or adjoining machinery shed are perfect wet weather options (the machinery shed actually boasts a lovely view).

The Orchard Shed is a beautiful, timber, barn-style building, originally constructed and used as an apple packing shed. Now you’ll find it fully restored and repurposed as the perfect reception venue, It features wide Tasmanian oak floorboards, sweeping exposed beams and original corrugated iron roof. The utmost care has been taken to restore the building without compromising its historic value and we are delighted to be able to share her with you.

If you are a little wild at heart, and feel more at home outdoors, there are plenty of marquee sites available on the property. The Pickers Hut is available for your exclusive use and is conveniently located just meters from the Orchard Shed. Spend your first night as husband and wife in this historic cottage. Enjoy gorgeous rural views in luxurious surrounds, and plenty of peace and quiet. We look forward to welcoming you to Wines for Joanie and sharing our little piece of paradise with you.

Owner / Manager

Hi there, and welcome to Wines for Joanie. Although we live and breathe all things Tasmanian, we grew up on farms just down the road from each other in country Queensland. We threw caution to the wind and made the move south after we fell in love with a little farm and vineyard in the Tamar Valley.

It’s the best decision we’ve ever made. Tasmania definitely feels like home, and we now have two of our very own little Tasmanians. Family, farm, vineyard and winery is the best kind of juggling act! There is never a dull moment here.

We’re suckers for all things old and charming and it has been incredibly rewarding to restore the gorgeous timber outbuildings to their former glory. We love nothing more than sharing this little place we call home, and we’re delighted that The Orchard Shed is finally ready to share with you.We can’t wait to meet you, share a glass of wine, hear about your story and explore the beautiful possibilities.
