About This Venue
In its 180 year history, Terragong has played host to many memorable events. A relaxed country setting and peaceful, heritage-steeped vibe make it the ideal location for intimate celebrations with family and friends.
Historic Terragong House is included on the Register of National Estate with the Australian Heritage Commission, as well as on the Register of the National Trust of Australia. Our home is set on twelve acres of lawns, perennial gardens, swimming pool lawn and terrace, paddocks, orchards and towering trees – including 150-year-old Magnolia Grandiflora, Morton Bay & Illawarra Figs, Bunya & Norfolk Pines – with views over the Jamberoo Valley to the Southern Escarpment. We’re located an easy 10 minutes’ drive from Kiama.
Renowned for comfort, luxury and personalised service, award-winning Terragong isn’t your average event venue; in fact, we’re not an event venue – rather we are the region’s highest-rated bespoke bed & breakfast (TripAdvisor). We host a limited number of on-farm events each year, and outdoor/garden party festivities in Spring, Summer and early Autumn, from October 1 to April 30.
The estate’s lawns are perfect for traditional garden parties, with tray service finger foods, casual spit-roast BBQ or sit-down dining under marquee, for up to 60 guests. In the event of bad weather on the day, guests can be hosted inside the house (for cocktail/finger food dining only) – on the Verandah, in the formal Dining Room, the Library, Garden Room and Farmhouse Kitchen & Family Room.
We are what is known as a ‘DIY venue’; all infrastructure required for an on-farm event is arranged and paid for by yourself (i.e. marquees for garden parties, caterers, florists, etc); this gives you the flexibility to determine and manage your budget as well as style the event as you wish. We have a list of trusted suppliers that we happy to recommend to you; they are familiar with the house and grounds and have supplied previous events here to rave reviews.
All events are held as part of a whole-of-house bed & breakfast booking – you have exclusive use of the house and grounds for 48 hours, ensuring that your special event is indeed private and that your needs are met to our exacting standards. A set fee includes two nights of b&b accommodation for up to six guests in three elegantly decorated queen-bedded guest-rooms, as well as use of the gardens, grounds and public rooms in the house (Farmhouse Family & Dining Space, Formal Dining Room, Library, Garden Room, Verandah and Swimming Pool Terrace). Guests staying overnight in-house start each day with a two-course breakfast served in the Farmhouse Kitchen, as well as an hour of wine & nibbles on the ‘non-event’ day.
If you are considering an elopement-style ceremony and reception (for intimate gatherings of up to 20 guests), we charge a $50 per person fee for venue hire (rather than the set fee shown).
On-farm events with more than 20 guests must be overseen by an event organiser . There are a number of outstanding professional event organisers to choose from on the South Coast and we are happy to work with any event organiser you may wish to engage.
Terragong’s formal Dining Room seats eight and is an intimate and dramatic space in which to celebrate with an optional rehearsal lunch or dinner. Seated around the octagonal dining table, candlelight, antique dinnerware, sterling silver cutlery and fine glassware set the scene. With French doors opening onto the Verandah (the perfect spot for pre-meal drinks), this is a special setting for a meal to remember. We will work with you to design your ideal menu, using seasonal produce available from local markets and providores, tailoring the meal to suit your requirements and budget.
Terragong is rated #1 accommodation provider (B&B/Inns) in the Kiama Municipality (TripAdvisor, 2018). We have received numerous awards since opening our doors to guests in 2016, including TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence (2016 & 2017), the booking.com Guest Review Award (2017 & 2018) and Alluxia Awards ‘Best Regional Getaway’ (2017). The property has been featured in a number of publications over the past couple of years, including a 10-page feature in Australian Country Style Magazine (Aug 2016), a feature in Belle Magazine (‘Luxe Coasting’, Nov 2017) and The Sydney Morning Herald ’52 Weekends Away’ 2016.

Owner / Manager
Your hosts Darryl Gordon and Simon Milner purchased Terragong in 2014, moving to the stunning NSW South Coast from Sydney, and undertook 18 months of sympathetic renovations to the estate.
An award-winning interior designer, Darryl has brought an eye for exquisite detail to the refurbishment and decoration of Terragong (described by The National Trust as a “jewel of colonial Georgian design”). Simon has extensive experience in and a passion for hospitality and tourism, having worked for much of his career as public relations manager for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and marketing communications manager for Qantas/Sabre.
