About This Venue

Nestled along the banks of the Yarra River, with Yarra Bend Park on one side and the Abbotsford Convent on the other, the Collingwood Children’s Farm’s 7 hectares of beautiful farmland is a secluded world away from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne, but is unbelievably only 4.5kms from the city.

Wedding ceremonies can be held under the shade of a 100 year old oak tree or in the paddock overlooking the river, with the reception following in one of the 3 unique spaces at the Farm.

The 100 year old Barn has loads of atmosphere and rustic style, and seats up to 120 or 150 cocktail style. There’s plenty of room for dancing and music on the milking floor, and huge original stone fireplace keeps things cosy. For larger weddings, the paddock is available for a marquee or tipi set up, while smaller intimate receptions are held in the Farm Cafe.

The Farm Cafe takes care of the food and event management. A wedding is the perfect excuse for a great meal, and all the food is carefully prepared from seasonal local produce and designed to be shared, bringing people together over delicious food. Guests can help themselves, returning to platters of slow roasted meats and hearty sides for seconds, thirds and even fourths! With 8 years of experience we pride ourselves in taking care of people and feeding them well.

All weddings are set up from scratch, which provides lots of scope for personalisation and tailoring the set up and styling to the individual couple. Each couple has a dedicated Event Planner to guide them through the planning process, and manage everything on the day from the bump in of the furniture to the set up of the couple’s decorations. Weddings at the Farm are as personal and unique as the couple, but what they all share is a relaxed rural setting, heaps of fun and great food.

Owner / Manager

Carina and Mark are dedicated to providing warm authentic hospitality with delicious plentiful food, friendly staff and gorgeously styled spaces. The Farm Cafe has grown up on the Children’s farm progressing from a coffee cart 12 years ago to a thriving cafe and event business, perfectly partnered with it’s beautiful location. We produce 80+ weddings per year and can bring all our experience to creating your perfect day.

We’re all totally obsessed with great food, and love serving up a big feast to an approving wedding crowd. There’s something incredibly special about being involved in creating such a big moment in people’s lives, and we love the collaborative aspect of working with each couple to make their dreams and ideas a reality. We love the Farm, and how the combination of fresh air, animals and farmland sets the scene for weddings that are relaxed, different and fun. The recipe for a great wedding is pretty simple: awesome food, good drinks, rockin’ music and great company, and we think that keeping this in mind and staying true to each couple’s personality is the way to keep a wedding stress-free and special.
