WEDDINGS WITH CHARACTER
Here at Contentious Character vineyard, we know the meaning of love. Every day, we pour love into growing our own grapes, making our own wines, and pairing our food to the wine. We’re a cool-climate vineyard, winery, cellar door and kitchen set in the undulating hills of Wamboin, 30km east of Canberra. This creates a charming backdrop for your wedding. The vineyard lawn is a lovely spot for a twilight ceremony with our peacocks providing a dash of colour for your photos.
Enjoy canapés on the deck or lawn, at the bar looking over our cellar, or in the cosy fireside lounge. Your guests can mingle in the early evening light, enjoying the rolling hills, and distant views of the Snowy Mountains. They are sure to spot a kangaroo or more, bounding through the vines. Everything here is architecturally designed for harmony with the surrounding landscape. Enjoy your reception in our barrel room or our purpose built kitchen restaurant, or even outside in an airy marquee (not permanent).
Our friendly local staff will love working with you to create a memorable wedding day. That’s hardly contentious! We have everything you need for a characterful wedding, where every part is designed just for you two.

Contentious Character is a cool-climate winery, set in the hills of Wamboin, 30km east of Canberra. Whether you come to ours, or our wines come to you, we’ll give you plenty to talk about.
We’re a single estate vineyard winery. We grow our own grapes, sell our own wines, and make our own good times. You’re welcome to join us at the weekends when we throw open our cellar door, and serve fresh local and homegrown produce, paired with our wines. When it comes to what we believe in, we stand our ground. So if you want to meet some Contentious Characters in person, we’re pretty easy to find. Come over for a tasting, a good meal or a simple yarn, and we’ll show you what we’re all about. If you’re looking for an interesting and unique wine experience for your wedding you’ve come to the right place.
