Nowhere nails a celebration better than Three Williams – a unique Sydney warehouse wedding venue renowned for good food and good vibes year-round. Originally trading just as a cafe-by-day, they eventually decided to explore the big wide world of weddings, hosting their first warehouse wedding a few years ago. They’ve never looked back.
Hey guys! Can you tell us a bit about your venue?
Born from the rubble of an old furniture warehouse, Three Williams is the ultimate in simplistic yet sophisticated warehouse architecture. Nestled on the edge of Redfern and below street level, the space is exceptionally versatile with options to create a completely bespoke wedding.
What inspired you to get involved with weddings?
We originally began trading solely as a daytime cafe and would accommodate the occasional private dinner or special event. We loved it so much; the different pace, vibe and not to mention it meant our space, which we put so much heart and soul into, was not sitting in the dark night after night. When our first wedding request came though we were so excited!
We very openly discussed with the bride and groom that it would be our first wedding but “if you’re game we are!” and threw ourselves into planning with everything we had. After that first incredibly inspired wedding, we were hooked and it was an organic progression into weddings from there. We certainly feel incredibly blessed to be involved in such special days!
We see one of the best things about Three Williams as the fact you have so many facilities already sorted – can you list off some of things that are included?
Sure thing – bar area, kitchen, wet weather cover, power, wifi, water, wheelchair access, parking, tables, seating, clean-up included, power, bathroom, ceremony location.
What do you think is the selling point for most couples?
Our flexible approach to wedding planning and the diversity of our space is a major selling point. We never want to corner our couples into a “choose from A, B or C” package. We adore tailoring weddings and work closely with our brides and grooms to create a completely unique experience.
We’ve seen everything from pop-up whiskey bars, astro turf, lion dances, garden installations (literally with dirt and carrots and pumpkins – don’t ask), espresso martini stations, an entire hired jungle – we’re talking palm trees and ferns! We have had glitter curtains, Disney theme, double denim theme, twister and everything in between. We cherish and nurture any wild ideas!
For the out-of-towners, where do you recommend they stay nearby?
There are some awesome nearby options. The Old Clare in Chippendale, QT in the City and the Intercontinental Double Bay are all an easy Uber away.
What’s your favourite thing you’ve seen a couple do at your venue?
Ooooh thats a tricky one! It’s very hard to go past a bridal entrance consisting of half an hour of wild dancing, Lebanese drummers a rogue saxophone and lots of clapping! I think everyone, including the staff, joined in on that one and we all had smiles from ear to ear.
We also had a bride and groom announce their pregnancy to family and friends during speeches. The room was deafening with cheer! That was certainly a special moment to witness. Also, one couple’s wedding was “Canadian Tuxedo” themed whereby everyone, including the bride and groom, wore double denim. Not going to lie, staff got in on that one too! I think that is three ‘favourite things’… can we have three??
And what do you think would be epic at Three Williams? Any ideas you’d love to see a couple carry out?
Well, anything goes here to be honest! We are partial to a mini pony or two!
Can you describe the kind of couples your space attracts?
Relaxed, fun and unique. All of our couples have a vision and are inspired. They want to create a wedding that is a little out of the “norm”, break some rules and feed their guests before booting them all onto the dance floor with a wine in one hand and a big ol’ slice of cake in the other. We love our couples.
