Nedlands Yacht Club in Perth is a blank canvas wedding venue that attracts couples looking to create a personalised celebration. Every detail – from the menu and music to the furniture and napkins is flexible, meaning the options here are truly endless.
That said, if you love the venue but don’t love the idea of a DIY wedding, the fabulous team here will organise everything for you. Just ask nicely.
Tell us a bit about your venue…
NYC is located on a secluded lush green foreshore of the Swan River with stunning city views. We are a blank canvas, allowing couples to style the venue up as they desire. We’ve seen all kinds of themes brought to life here – rustic chic, Hampton’s beach house, modern luxe – the ideas are endless and allow each couples personality to shine through.
What inspired you to get involved with weddings?
Being a large part of someone’s special day, pulling it all together and seeing another successful wedding gives a joy that only comes with true passion for the industry. It is a big day for couples, with a big price tag and so ensuring our couples have had the best day possible is the best feeling.
Tell us about the facilities your venue offers?
We provide couples with a blank canvas but also offer catering and hire packages for those that don’t want the stress of organising everything on their own. NYC also offers couples exclusive use of our foreshore for their ceremony and canapés and pre-reception drinks.
What do you think is the selling point for most couples?
Allowing couples to bring in their own caterers, their own stylists, hire companies etc. It allows our couples the flexibility to create their wedding their way.
How’s about accommodation? Are there places nearby to stay?
Absolutely – Subiaco, Kings Park, Cottesloe and the Perth City are all close by for accommodation.
What’s your favourite thing you’ve seen a couple do at your venue?
I absolutely loved when a couple had a Bedouin stretch tent on the foreshore and had dinner under the tent, before coming out to dance under the stars. The stretch tent was a different option to a marquee and just created a fantastic, unique look to the reception.
And what do you think would be epic at NYC? Any ideas you’d love to see a couple carry out?
I would love to see a tipi down on our foreshore with a boho theme: low lying tables, lots of florals and leafy greens installations. It would look so majestic overlooking the river and city.
Describe the kind of couples your venue attracts?
We attract a variety of couples because the venue and venue space is so flexible. We get a range of couples with different budgets, ideas and themes so really we are attractive to just about everyone who wants to get creative and have a personalised wedding celebration!
