Not far from Sydney you’ll find Montrose Berry Farm – a fairytale-esque, Southern Highlands wedding venue that’s been operating for more than 20 years.
Dotted with magnificent, century-old trees and well-manicured gardens, this charming and unpretentious property is well-suited to couples looking for a blank-canvas space that feels like home. A fancy version of home, at least.
We asked Montrose’s owner Fiona a few questions so you could also fall for this family-owned farm like we have.
Hey Fi, can you tell us a bit about the property?
We are situated in the beautiful Southern Highlands, within easy distance of Sydney, Canberra and the coast. We are a heritage listed homestead (c1861) and gardens with a relaxed and elegant feel.
What inspired you to get involved with weddings?
What better job… making a couples dreams come true for their special day.
What kind of facilities does Montrose Berry Farm offer?
We have a gorgeous full brick barn with a marquee in case of wet weather. The lush, green rolling lawns and the heritage gardens with century-old trees are ideal for ceremonies and pre-dinner drinks. The colours here are particularly stunning in autumn and spring.
What do you think is the selling point for most couples?
We do one wedding at a time and we focus fully on them. There is easy access around the property and the couples are invited to arrive the day before and style the venue how they want it. They also choose their own caterer and alcohol is BYO.
Do you offer onsite accommodation? Alternatively, are there places to stay nearby?
We have a two bedroom cottage but there is stunning accommodation in all price brackets within 10 minutes of the farm.
What’s your favourite thing you’ve seen a couple do at your venue?
Sit amongst the autumn leaves!
Can you describe the kind of couples your venue attracts?
The couple who enjoys DIY and wants an elegant country venue.
Any new venue developments or plans on the horizon?
Always improving and developing our gardens.
Finally, what tip or advice can you share with anyone planning a wedding right now?
Have a list, relax and enjoy the time planning.
