Here we chat to owner Meg about this stunning property and her plans to improve it even further. Take it away Meg…
Tell us a bit about your venue…
Fernbank is an award winning, elegant wedding venue which is incredibly beautiful and unlike any other venue in the region. The heritage homestead is located on 25 acres of gardens and has many features including a huge lake, wisteria laden arbour, gorgeous swank marquees and a styling store full of goodies to style up your day.
What inspired you to get involved with weddings?
The beauty of the property and the romance it exudes.
Tell us about the facilities your venue offers?
Our farm has five ceremony spots plus a wet weather option. There are a number of ways to facilitate receptions including a fully floored marquee. There is a huge styling store, horse and carriages and five star accommodation.
What do you think is the selling point for most couples?
The best selling point we have is the “feeling”. The farm is elegant, yet homely. Sophisticated yet welcoming. Stylish yet comfortable.
Do you offer onsite accommodation? Alternatively, are there places to stay nearby?
Yes, we have accommodation for up to 18 guests and there are other beautiful accommodation options nearby.
What’s your favourite thing you’ve seen a couple do at your venue?
Have an owl fly onto the groom’s gloved hand with the wedding bands.
And what do you think would be epic at your property? Any ideas you’d love to see a couple carry out?
Fernbank has had some pretty incredible ideas at the property, including a helicopter arrival by the groom, hot air balloon, a trained owl as a ring bearer, an Indian parade on decorated horses. The sky is the limit really and as there is plenty of room – ideas are endless and constantly evolving.
Describe the kind of couples your venue attracts?
Fernbank attracts couples from all walks of life and from all locations including international brides and grooms. The couples are normally looking for something different which is what Fernbank provides.
Any new additions on the horizon?
We have some plans being drawn at the moment for other facilities on the site, including a sound proof facility.
