At the risk of sounding callous and ungrateful, have you ever been given a gift and thought ‘I should burn this, the world would be better off’?
Don’t worry, it’s happened to the best of us and it’s why we strongly encourage engaged couples to check out The Wedding Nest – a boutique wedding gift registry that only stocks nice things (meaning noone needs to contribute to landfill. Hooray). The process is self-explanatory and guests can buy said nice things from the comfort of their own home. Genius.
Tell us a bit about what you do.
A boutique wedding gift registry specialising in unique gifts that are design and style focused, not available on other registries. We offer couples the pieces found in interiors magazines, blogs and design homeware shops and have a strong focus on boutique brands. Custom wishing well and honeymoon funds are available too.
What’s the main advantage for couples who work with you?
Everything can be organised online in the comfort of your home. Once a couple has selected their items, all the hard work is done. They can just sit back and wait for all the beautiful gifts that they actually want!
Do you think there are any preconceptions about the wedding industry?
Yes, that the industry is expensive! We really try to be affordable. High-end brands are in our range only if the splurge is worth it and we always have a more affordable but just as stylish alternative. Furniture pieces are good value and larger pieces are broken down into affordable contribution amounts for your guests.
Can you share some of the things that go on behind the scenes?
Sourcing, sourcing, sourcing. We are always on the lookout for the perfect gift.
What would you say sets your business apart?
Design and style. The design focus is really big for us. With a background in design – working over 12 years as an interior designer both in commercial/retail and high-end residential. We style your registry like a magazine with your dream home inspiration style photos integrated with your wedding gifts. Your guests won’t just feel like they are giving you a gift but that they are helping you create your dream home.
And finally, what’s your next predicted wedding trend?
Bouquets becoming more ornamental and sculptural. And of course, boutique wedding gift registries.
