melbourne wedding florist

We’re big fans of Melbourne wedding florist Bec of Little Lady Blooms for a few reasons. Not only is her work unique and incredibly beautiful, she is also a huge advocate of sustainable practices and supporting local growers.

Read our full chat with this lovely gal below and if you feel as enthusiastic about her work as we do, you can join her ever-growing fan club here.

Hey Bec! Tell us a bit about what you do.

I love to create bespoke and interesting florals for weddings and events. Working closely with couples to come up with something interesting and creative. Wild and abundant is what I love. Using as many locally grown and bee-friendly flowers to be as kind to Mother Nature as possible.

What is the main advantage for couples who work with you?

I am always wanting to do something outside the box, being challenged with new creative ideas and processes. You will always get something unique with me. I gain such joy from working with local product and giving back to my community and sharing this with my clients.

Can you share some of the things that go on behind the scenes?

Mainly jumping in compost bins, cleaning buckets and generally being covered in flower muck is my life. Constantly searching for my phone that is always on silent and eating a ton of Uber Eats during peak season!

Do you think there are any preconceptions about the wedding industry?

It’s hard for people to gauge the cost of items as they have generally never done this before. It’s my belief that we are there to help guide and talk people through this scary process as much as possible. There is no such thing as a wedding tax.

What are some of the main questions couples ask you? And what are the answers?

How can I have a floral installation and make it cost effective? Think about the space and where you want to make the most impact, can you use other design or styling elements to enhance the space. Think outside of Pinterest and sit down with your floral designer and go through different options.

Can you describe what sets your business apart?

Being community minded, working closely with boutique local farmers to ensure we are giving back and supporting others. Through this process our product is fresh, unique and bespoke for every event.

What’s your next predicted wedding trend?

Colour, loads of it. People steering away from the mainstream style and using their own personalities, style and taste for inspiration.

What would you love to see more couples do at weddings?

More flowers of course! I would love to see people trying new ideas and asking their florist how sustainable their practices are.

And finally, what the best piece of advice you can share with anyone planning their wedding?

Just do it your way!
