After building an architecturally designed, open air chapel for their own wedding day, this couple decided it was a sin to let it go to waste. So they launched Framed Events – a wedding hire business that allows other loved-up couples access to this impressive structure.
Jen and Joe, hello! Can you tell us a bit about what you guys do?
In December 2018 after 12 years together, my now husband and I got married. We wanted the day to be a massive party with our friends and family and to create something unique to us. I wanted a ceremony in a chapel and Joe wanted one outside.
With the help of our groomsman (who is an architect) and a family member who works with metal, we built our very own open air chapel so we could have the best of both worlds.
The open air chapel made the ceremony an unforgettable experience and it seemed a shame to only let her shine for one day. We saw the potential she had, the places she could go and the ways she could be used so we decided to let other people enjoy that as well.
What is the main advantage for couples who work with you?
Versatility! On one hand, our open-air chapel can create a space out of nothing and on the other hand, it can be a blank canvas for you to create something unique to you.
Can you share some of the things that go on behind the scenes?
If it’s not responding to emails and questions about the open air chapel then we are out on the field doing site inspections for future couples and assembling and taking down the open air chapel for our couples.
What are some of the main questions couples ask you? And what are the answers?
Q: Where can the open air chapel travel to?
A: The open air chapel can go anywhere (in Australia). Provided the ground is flat and it is not in a high wind area, then the world is her oyster.
Q: Do the seats come with the open air chapel?
A: The open air chapel can be hired with or without seats.
Q: Does the arbour come with the open air chapel?
A: Yes, it’s part of her design.
Can you describe what sets your business apart?
Flexibility and portability. We aim to fit in with your vision.
What’s your next predicted wedding trend?
Bright colour palettes.
What would you love to see more couples do at weddings?
Get more creative with their ceremony spaces.
And finally, what the best piece of advice you can share with anyone planning their wedding
Delegate! From putting together a DIY wedding myself I’d say delegate as many jobs as you can. It will lighten your load and make the process less stressful.
