We may be biased, but we think the Australian wedding industry rocks. Home to some of the most gifted creatives, including bridal gown designer Karen Willis Holmes and makeup artist Sonia Allen, we’re forever inspired by their capacity to think outside the square and breath new life into the wedding world.
For over 15 years, Karen Willis Holmes (KWH) has been dressing brides in gorgeous gowns that showcase her commitment to quality and style, with most parts of the production process happening in-house (as opposed to some far-away land).
Similarly, Sonia Allen (a former Nuclear Medicine Technologist believe it or not) has dedicated her life to learning and understanding the magic of makeup and, more recently, to her latest project titled The Bridal Series Sydney – a celebration of six of Sydney’s most loved wedding dress designers that will be released on her blog over the next six weeks.
“This project surpassed my expectations… together with photographers Natasha Foster and Angela Rose I shot each designer, their boutique, and models styled in their gowns with hair and make-up done by me”, says Sonia who chose Karen Willis Holmes as her first cab off the rank.
Teaming up with photographer Angela Rose and model Renata Zareba, they gathered at Karen’s Paddington boutique to talk about the realities of being in business and to shoot a collection of bridal gowns that showcase Karen’s extraordinary craftsmanship and creativity.
