A ‘one stop wedding shop’ may sound cliche but Pia + Jade is anything but. While they do specialise in almost every wedding service – from planning and florals to stationery and wedding styling – their aesthetic is unique and the quality of their work is tops.
Here we chat to the creative duo about how they save couples time and money and what they think will be the next big wedding trend.
Tell us a bit about your business…
We are event stylists, floral fairies and stationery designers based on the NSW South Coast. We service Sydney, Canberra, South Coast and Hunter Valley, but always willing to hit the road and discover new locations!
What is the main advantage for couples who work with you?
Based on feedback we have had, couples love that we are a one stop styling shop (We know that sounds a bit corny, we are trying to think of a better slogan!!) We can cover every styling and design element of the ceremony and reception, from floral installations and bouquets, on the day vendor coordination, furniture, styling, signage, place cards, seating plans and lighting. It saves them a bunch of time and money in researching vendors for each individual need, and ensures everything is cohesive, stylish and of the same standard.
Can you share some of the things that go on behind the scenes?
Our everyday things are emails (we take pride in same day replies, another thing our couples really appreciate) managing social media and our website and searching for inspiration. When we have an event, there is the 3am wake up alarm for a flower market run, packing and unpacking vans, cleaning vases and candlesticks (literally the worst job ever!!), RnB tunes to keep us motivated and a glass of wine and a daggy dance move here and there.
Do you think there are any preconceptions about the wedding industry?
Our biggest one is when people say that things are more expensive because it has the word “wedding” attached to it. Our pricing is no different across weddings, parties, corporate events and small occasions. A wedding is usually on a much larger scale than other life events, with larger guest numbers, a higher expectation level and the need for attention to detail and well thought out logistics. Because of all these things, is why they cost more.
What are some of the main questions couples ask you? And what are the answers?
A lot of couples ask for recommendations of other business’ in the industry, from caterers, to venues and photographers. We have a “Recommended” page on our website which lists all of our go-to people that we love working with and who produce amazing work. Couples really love how much time and research that saves them, as well as the comfort of knowing they are bringing in amazing vendors.
Can you describe what sets your business apart…
We don’t have one set ‘trademark’ style. This may sound a little strange at first, but we love to work with different styles, aesthetics, colours, furnishings and flowers. The wedding we did last weekend, will never look the same as our next. Plus, just like everyone is different, each wedding needs to be different to reflect the individual style, mood and personality of the couple.
What’s your next predicted wedding trend?
Mixing dried and fresh florals and foliage. It produces the most amazing colour and texture combinations! Also, not exactly a ‘trend’ (hopefully more like a movement haha!), but we are loving how more couples are paying attention to the small details like cutlery, linen and plate choices. These details pack a real punch when thoughtfully considered and add to the overall style and feel of your event.
