Tomieka and Jason’s wedding was hosted at family-run, environmentally friendly Hunter Valley wedding venue, Lonely Goat Olives. Boasting stunning mountain views, it’s one of the best-kept secrets of the Hunter Valley.

In a nutshell, how would you describe your wedding day?

Our wedding was a relaxed, intimate, and exciting day for us.

What did you expect was going to be your favourite part in the lead-up? What did it end up being?

Leading up to the wedding, we thought the best parts would be relaxing and enjoying the day (after all the stress of planning) and seeing it all come together. We were also excited to hear each others vows! Now looking back at the day, I think our favourite parts were the simplicity of spending such a special day with our close family/friends (and having fun with them!), and feeling special for what everyone around us had helped us with.

Did you write your own vows? If so, what made you decide to do that?

Yes we did! We felt it would feel special and more real and it allowed us to really reflect on what we were vowing to.

What was it about your wedding venue that made you choose it?

We chose Lonely Goat Olives because we felt an immediate connection when we first visited the place. It felt intimate, unique and authentic. It had beautiful scenery and ensured a connection to nature and a sense of seclusion which we wanted for our wedding. It also had flexible options to help meet our desires. The olive grove had to be one of the winning points though! It helped us create a theme for the wedding and fitted in well with the style we wanted.

Now that you’re married, what’s your best piece of wedding-planning advice you can share?

I think definitely focus on the big/most important things and don’t get held up on small details.

If you had your time again, is there anything you’d do differently?

Try and relax a bit more during the planning process! Other than that everything was great.
