The kookaburras sung and the sun shone all day at Kitty and Tom’s outdoor wedding, hosted at WedShed favourite, The Stables of Somersby.

There was nothing but love all around, with a relaxed vibe of their guests playing cricket, footy and lawn games, while energy filled the barn as the sun slept and the dance floor egnited.

Hey Tommy and Kitty! What did you expect was going to be your favourite part in the lead-up and what did it end up being?

Seeing a vision come to life, all of the organising and coordinating with vendors, but my favourite part was working with Tommy on all of the little bits to pull it together.

Did you write your own vows? If so, what made you decide to do that?

We did! We decided to write our own vows because our words and promises come from our souls and that can’t be taken from someone else, it had to come from the heart and spirit.

What was it about The Stables of Somersby that made you book?

DEFINITELY the aisle! It’s about 70m long and leads down to a beautiful tree. It was the perfect spot to start our promise together. The barn, the open fields, and beautiful dam too. The space tells a story of its own, we were just lucky to have a chapter of it.

What’s your best piece of wedding-related advice?

Take a few minutes throughout the day or evening to sit alone as husband and wife and watch the ones you love most enjoy the day. Seeing all the love around you and the day you’ve created for everyone is an awesome feeling.

If you had your time again, is there anything you’d do differently?

I would have started the day earlier, for even more memories to be had.

Wedding speeches

Finish these sentences. My partner is…

Simply the best!

The best thing we did at our wedding was…

Spend time together. We made it our pact to be by each other’s side throughout the day so our memories of the day were ours to share.

We splurged on…

The venue!

We saved on…

Everything else! Kitty made sure to make the day a collaboration, where vendors were only people she had known or worked with in the past, she also styled the entire venue herself and made the bridesmaid dresses.
